Qualifications & Experience

My journey into the field of counselling started after I left school and decided to study Child Psychology. I started studying Counselling Skills at Gloucestershire College and then joined The Nelson Trust as a placement student.  I worked at the Brimscombe Hill Treatment Centre, providing counselling for adults in rehabilitation, recovering from alcohol and substance abuse.  As well as the work, The Nelson Trust is committed to providing invaluable training on abuse, suicide prevention, risk assessing and safeguarding vulnerable adults.  All of this training enhanced my learning at Gloucestershire College and I continued on to the University of Gloucestershire and completed my FdA in Therapeutic Counselling.

I joined TIC+ (Teens in Crisis) in 2019, as a Peripatetic Counsellor.  I completed a post qualifying Diploma in CYPS (Children & Young People) Counselling.  My role involved visiting young people between the ages of 9 and 21 in schools and colleges in Gloucester.  Issues raised include bullying, stress, anxiety, neglect, abuse, self harm & suicide ideation.  During this time, I also became Counselling Coordinator for TIC+.  One of the main responsibilites of this role involved screening new referrals and then risk assessing and safeguarding young people indicating suicide ideation, previous suicide attempts or suicide plans.

My current role as Specialist Eating Difficulties Counsellor follows training with the National Centre for Eating Disorders (NCFED) and the creation of the new TIC+ Eating Difficulties Service (TEDS). We are an expanding team working closely with the NHS Brownhills Eating Disorder Service providing counselling support for young people with eating difficulties.

I am also an EFT Practitioner, trained in Emotional Freedom Technique Therapy (also known as Tapping) which I also incorporate into my work with eating difficulties.

I currently run my private practice alongside my work with TIC+.

I am passionate about continual professional development and have been fortunate to work within  organisations which provide many regular training opportunities.  As well as my more formal qualifications mentioned above, my list of training includes:

MCCAED ARFID Training with Maudsley Trust, CBT-E for Eating Disorders, Child Abuse Training, Suicide Awareness Training, Collaboratively Engaging with Trauma & Dissociative Identity Disorder, Trauma Informed Counselling, Working with Neurodivergence, Working with Anxiety, Adult Safeguarding Training, Child Safeguard Training, Pretrial Training Therapy.
